Injustice Gods Among Us 2 Why It Would Be An Injustice Not To Play It

Injustice Gods Among Us 2 Why It Would Be An Injustice Not To Play It

With Injustice Gods Among Us 2 i.e. Injustice 2 now released on May 19 in Europe (the companion mobile app hit app stores a week earlier, on May 11) and we’re pumped, to say the least. Not only will there be a bunch of new DC Comics superheroes to play as, but the game’s Gear System will add an upper layer of RPG mechanics to the match, including a loot system, which should make the sequel to the already addictive first game even more so. Get your Justice League, Batman vs Superman freak on!

The Injustice Gods Among Us storyline will pick up where the first one left off, with Batman and the forces of good having defeated Dictator Superman. A new threat will emerge in the form of the anti-Justice League “The Society,” led by Gorilla Grodd.
We’re all about the heroes here, so of course, we can’t wait to check out and play around with the new additions. Among that list are Brainiac (who will function as the game’s primary villain), Poison Ivy, Scarecrow, Robin, Swamp Thing, and even Sub-Zero of Mortal Kombat fame (who replaces Scorpion). The game’s director Ed Boon (also of Mortal Kombat fame) has said that other MK characters could also be added to Injustice 2’s roster as DLC.Injustice Gods Among Us

Interestingly, a slew of Injustice 2 characters from the first game has been removed, as developer NetherRealm Studios appears intent on keeping its list of characters in check while still spicing things up. In fact, there will be two fewer heroes in the sequel (32) at launch, than there were in the first game, not counting character skins. Among the notable cuts from the roster are Ares, Lex Luthor, Nightwing, Raven, and Solomon Grundy.
While it’s admirable that they’re making so much effort to update the cast, it will certainly be a blow to those gamers who used some of the axed characters as their mains. Especially in the upper levels and echelons of competitive play, as they’ll be at a significant disadvantage when facing players that are using characters from the first game which they’ve already mastered.

Fighting game purists also aren’t big fans of the RPG mechanics being added to Injustice Gods Among Us, as they believe it will tilt the balance of online power for those who have played longer. Rather than those who are more skilled, though it should be noted that players will be able to opt into fighting online matches with standard characters.
While I certainly understand those concerns, I believe the added depth will outweigh any balance issues (of course, I do like RPGs and having RPG mechanics in games in general, regardless of the genre, so I’m biased). Also, not everyone plays online in the first place, and those players will surely enjoy the extra features without any drawbacks.

Irrespective of which side of the discussion you fall on, Injustice 2 is a game you won’t want to miss out. With a revamped roster of characters, an extensive Diablo-style loot system, large guilds, and a big emphasis on e-sports, the game should appeal to fighting game fans both hardcore and casual.
