New Eminem  album features guest appearances from Joyner Lucas, Royce da 5’9″, Jessie Reyez, and uncredited vocals by Justin Vernon. Eminem, credited as Slim Shady, and Dr. Dre served as executive producers, while production for individual tracks comes from a variety of musicians. New Eminem album has generated some controversy for use of slurs and diss tracks; it has received mix reviews and sales numbers projected to top American and British album charts.

New Eminem Promotion for the album track “Venom” featured the logo from the motion picture Venom. The “E” in “VENOM” was replaced with the “Ǝ” character Eminem frequently uses on artwork.

Billboard has projected the New Eminem album to debut with 225,000 album-equivalent units for its opening week, thus making it Eminem’s ninth number one; he is the first artist to have eight consecutive number one albums on the Billboard charts. On September 3, the Official Charts Company projected the album to top the UK Albums Chart.

Throughout New Eminem album, the lyrics criticize other musicians and several have responded publicly. American rapper Machine Gun Kelly released a diss track to “Not Alike” entitled “Rap Devil” on September 3. Ja Rule responded on social media, re-igniting a feud the two had 15 years prior.

Musicians have criticized New Eminem Music for  using the slur “faggot”, including Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons, calling the rapper’s language “hateful”; additionally, guest vocalist Justin Vernon distanced himself from the collaboration due to the message.Critics have also objected to the slur, such as Mikelle Street of Billboard, who wrote, “Eminem needs to be held accountable for using homophobic slurs (again),” further adding, “the idea that listeners are too “soft” for critiquing the ways in which rappers weaponize the identities of others against them ignores how hip-hop is a reflection and arbiter of culture.” Matt Miller of Esquire relates his use of the term to previous homophobic lyrics and calls it the “biggest problem” of the New Eminem album.
