A lot of people enjoy sports and many people enjoy Movies about Sports. That is why it only makes sense to have sports movies. A simple but genius way to make money from the two things that people love the most. Since we are talking about sports movies, here are a few that have left marks in the history of sports movies.
Hoop Dreams, 1994
The movie Hop Dreams is one of the greatest sports movies of all time. What makes this movie so great is the fact that it is based on a true story. What makes it special is that it was a documentary that was shot in a period of 5 years. The movie focuses on two African-American teenagers, William Gates and Arthur Agee. The two had dreams to play in the NBA and the movie shows that lengths that they and their families went through to make these dreams a reality.
It is hard to mention the greatest sports movies and not mention Rocky. The iconic movie was released in 1976 and it is still loved today. Sylvester Stallone plays Rocky Balboa a small-time boxer who never dreams to be the heavyweight champion. As the movie plays, viewers are introduced to Apollo Creed who is the heavyweight champion. Even though the movie was realized in 1976, the spinoff Creed has a 2015 and 2018 movie. But that is not amazing as there are also games on internet casinos based on the franchise.
Million-Dollar Baby, 2004
Released in 2004, the movies primary theme is boxing. Not a male, but a female boxer this time. Maggie Fitzgerald arrives at a gym and seeks training. The gym owner, Frankie Dunn is a veteran Los Angles Trainer who naturally refuses to help her. As the plot unfolds, the viewers see how these two characters eventually form a bond that changes their lives forever.
The Blind Side, 2009
This movie can be likened to the Cinderella movie for the sports lovers. The movie’s plot is centred on Michael Oher a homeless boy who has been away from school for a way too long. Leigh Anne Touhy finds him. She and her husband eventually become his legal guardians. Oher has a big build and soon they convince him to try football. The movie focuses on the journey that a once homeless boy takes to becoming a football star.
