We’re not trying to minimize how terrifying it must be to come face to face with Pennywise the Dancing Clown, but we do want to point out that it is possible to defeat this creature, or at least buy yourself some time. Today we’re going to talk about some of the biggest weaknesses this seemingly indestructible monster has. It Chapter Two talked about the Ritual of Chud but let’s just say it’s very different in the book! Although IT preys on humans it does have some equals including the turtle Maturin, and superiors such as the ultra-powerful being Gan. Dick Hallorann managed to save people using his Shining and there’s chance we could see this expanded upon in Doctor Sleep. It’s too bad Bill Denbrough didn’t defeat the monster the first time around because the Losers Club had some unique abilities that made facing down the creature easier. There are also some specific times in the creature’s lifecycle which make it more vulnerable than others but don’t underestimate its incredible psychic powers for a moment. If you do, it might be the last mistake you ever make!
