Comic-Con 2020 Souvenir Book Call for Submissions!

After a year “off,” Comic-Con once again returns to its traditional Souvenir Book format, celebrating comics and pop culture anniversaries through articles and art! Our 2019 Souvenir Book was devoted to Comic-Con’s momentous 50th anniversary and contained a year-by-year history of the event, plus special features.

Today we’re announcing our anniversary themes for this year’s Souvenir Book and opening up our call for submissions. You can read all about it by clicking on the link above, but below is a quick rundown of this year’s anniversaries. Our deadline for fan-produced art and articles is Friday, April 17, at 11:59 PM.

The Comic-Con International Souvenir Book is a keepsake full-color trade paperback given FREE to all attendees (while supplies last). The book features bios and photos of each year’s special guests, plus articles and art created by fans and pros devoted to our anniversary celebrations. It also functions as a kind of “Yearbook” for the show, featuring Eisner Award winners from the past year and current nominees, Hall of Fame inductees, and tributes to those popular arts creators who have passed away in the previous year.

This year’s anniversary celebrations include:

  • 100th Birthday of Ray Bradbury
  • 100th Birthday of Ray Harryhausen
  • 75th Anniversary of EC Comics
  • 75th Anniversary of Moomin
  • 50th Anniversary of Conan in Comics
  • 50th Anniversary of Jack Kirby’s Fourth World (New Gods, Forever People, etc)

Please note: Due to space limitations, not all submissions can be featured in the book. Submitting an article or a piece of art is not a guarantee that it will be used. We are accepting art and articles based only on the anniversaries listed above. Articles should be of an historical non-fiction nature (not fictional stories about the characters involved).

For complete information on the anniversary celebrations, including how to contribute, file formats, technical specifications, and the all-important deadline, please click here to visit our Souvenir Book page.
