‘Castlevania’ Haunts Netflix For Season 3 This March

Forget slightly less terrifying takes on live-action Sonic the Hedgehog. If you want to see a quality adaptation of an iconic gaming series, look no further than Castlevania on Netflix. We’ve been waiting for the show to resurrect soon, and now we’ve got a first look at the upcoming third season releasing this March.

Take a look!

Ever since its debut season, Castlevania on Netflix (from Warren Ellis and producer Adi Sankar’s Bootleg Multiverse) impressed us with its gorgeous, gory anime take on Castlevania mythology. But it’s not just blood and guts. Adapting the prequel plot of Castlevania III, the show gave greater depths to drunker monster hunter heir Trevor Belmont, powerful magic user Sypha Belnades, Dracula’s tortured half-human son Alucard, and even the vampire lord Dracula himself.

After a first season that was really more of a prologue, the second season was a much more involved affair, introducing all sort of new human and vampire characters along with their competing political interests. Spoiler alert but the season ended with Dracula’s death.

But as any Castlevania fan will tell you, Dracula’s death is basically meaningless. His return is always inevitable, and there are hordes of monsters still left to fight in the meantime pouring from his castle into the countryside. That seems to be the status quo this new season seems to be operating in.

Castlevania season 3 streams on Netflix starting March 5. Meanwhile, here’s our review of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, the best modern Castlevania game in everything but name only.
