Diego Luna Reveals What Brought Him Back To Star Wars

Star Wars has a bright future on Disney+. Along with the current season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, there’s the second season of The Mandalorian, Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan series. and a prequel series centered on Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor from. Rogue One.

After Luna confirming that the series will start production later this year, he spoke with Rotten Tomatoes about why he’s excited to come back.

“To have more time to develop the character, and to pilot a little longer, you know?” said Luna. “It’s amazing. When you’re piloting, the thing actually moves, you know? It’s fantastic.”

“I just wanted to do more and more and more,” added Luna. “But, to be honest, it was something I really wanted to happen, and I’m glad it’s happening.”

Luna also expressed joy in continuing Rogue One’s story from the beginning.

“Now we can do magic, right?,” added Luna. “And go back in time and say ‘We’re going to tell a story that happened before the film.’ I’m going to look younger, and I’m going to get to play with those toys again.”

“It’s nice to see how something’s going to end, you know?” continued Luna. “It’s a different approach, and the beauty is that people already have a connection with that character, so now we’re going to tell you what had to happen for Rogue One to exist.”

Alan Tudyk will also star in the series as the fan favorite droid, K-2SO. The untitled Cassian Andor series is expected to premiere in 2021.
