Nothing stops Capcom’s survival horror train.

Things can turn around very quickly in this industry- take Resident Evil, for instance. While Capcom’s survival horror franchise was in the worst shape of its life until not too long ago, since 2017, it’s been on a bit of a hot streak, first with Resident Evil 7and then with the incredible Resident Evil 2– and that looks set to continue with the upcoming Resident Evil 3 remake. And it’s likely that the future is going to be even brighter for the series.

Well-known Resident Evil insider AestheticGamer recently took to Twitter to drop an interesting tease about that future, saying that fans of the horror series are going to be in for “a pretty crazy time” next year. When asked what what that will entail, he said that Capcom was planning on releasing another new Resident Evil title within a year of RE3’s launch, before also stating that he wouldn’t be talking about any of it until the remake was out.

Capcom have been sending out playtest invites for an unannounced game to Resident Evil Ambassadors of late, so it’s not a surprise that they have more stuff in the pipeline- the question, of course, is what that stuff is going to be. Though there have been some contrasting leaks about Resident Evil 8, the one thing most of them have agreed on is that it’s probably a few years away.

It’s likely that Capcom are planning on revealing a Revelations-style spinoff- though that’s just speculation on my part. AestheticGamer also said not too long ago that Capcom were going to announce a new game soon, and if that ends up being true, it might very well be a Resident Evil title- though then again, it might not. Meanwhile, a Resident Evil Netflix series was recently leaked, and it’s likely that that’ll be out by next year. Either way, it sure is an exciting time to be a Resident Evil fan right now. Do remember, though, that this doesn’t come from official Capcom channels, so don’t take this as gospel jut yet.

Resident Evil 3, meanwhile, is out on April 3 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC, so it’s not like there’a any lack of excitement in the immediate future. A demo of the remake will also be going live soon.
