It’s-a LEGO Mario Sets!

We all know that branding your product using Nintendo characters is basically like printing money. Of course, Danish toy company LEGO wants their share of this. Introducing the brand new LEGO Mario sets.

LEGO Mario

Nintendo and LEGO are teaming up. But these aren’t just your ordinary Mario branded LEGO sets. LEGO has gone the extra mile and basically created a real-life version of Mario Maker, combining both LEGO and technology to give us a brand new interactive LEGO experience.

The new LEGO sets will allow budding builders to create their own Mario courses, complete with LEGO versions of Goombas, Piranha plants and even Koopas. Using a special minifig, with interactive LED displays for eyes and on his chest and built-in sensors, kids (and adults) can then interact with Mario’s LED screens.

So for instance, having Mario smash a block might see his chest LED revealing that it contained some coins.

Thanks to a built-in speaker, Mario can also sprout his famous catchphrases and play some of the franchises’ classic level music.

It’s all rather charming and, as an adult and Nintendo fan, I’d be lying if I said that I wouldn’t want one of these sets for myself.

LEGO has yet to reveal more information regarding pricing and a release date of the LEGO Mario sets, but there is little doubt that Mario fans both young and old will be queuing for these sets when they eventually release.
