There goes our biggest source of news for the year. In an unsurprising chain of events, geekdom’s largest event San Diego Comic-Con has been canceled for this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The company’s official statement is as follows:

For the first time in its 50-year history San Diego Comic Convention (SDCC), the organizers behind the annual pop-culture celebration, announced today with deep regret that there will be no Comic-Con in 2020. The event will instead return to the San Diego Convention Center from July 22-25, 2021.

With the death toll in the United States rising at a daily rate, it’s no surprise every major event is taking pause at every opportunity. San Diego Comic-Con has been such a huge part of the MCU fandom. Every year, Marvel Studios would always deliver the goods in giving fans the announcements they want. This cancelation is more than understandable, however, it is a bit sad to see a yearly tradition go away. It’s also hard to imagine Disney or Marvel do a remote presentation as production has been halted for most of their properties, slowing down any development behind the scenes.

But hey, at least SDCC 2021 seems to be on track.
