Free Movies & Shows on Fire TV, April edition

Ready for a new show? Schitt’s Creek is here.

As streaming becomes America’s number one pastime for now, IMDb TV is here to help you find the good stuff — and it’s all free!

This month, we have a lot of new releases to share with you, including one you won’t want to miss — seasons one through five of Schitt’s Creek. I’ve only seen a couple seasons, but Eugene and Daniel Levy’s witty writing for the show always leaves me in stitches. Catherine O’Hara is also one of my favorite funny ladies, and I really can’t get enough of Alexis saying “David!”

So if you’re ready, give Schitt’s Creek a chance and then keep on streaming April’s list of new releases below with IMDb TV’s Movie of the Week, my faves, and a new list of Hidden Gems.

Start your month with a super-hero story with 2004’s Spider-Man, starring Toby Maguire and Kirsten Dunst. Kids and adults alike will love this for a family movie night everyone can enjoy.

Paddington. Photo credit: IMDb.com

Go on an adventure from the jungles of deepest Peru all the way to jolly London with this kid favorite, starring Paddington as himself and Nicole Kidman as an evil taxidermist. Turn this one into a project with the kids and try making your own marmalade.

The latest version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is literally on steroids compared to the original. With the beefed-up super heroes achieving the impossible through CGI, 2014’s TMNT was a huge success at the box office and kids of all ages still love this action-packed adventure straight from the sewers of New York City.

End the month with two movies of the week perfect for kids: Monsters vs. Aliens, starring Reese Witherspoon; and The Neverending Story, a classic from the ‘80’s that’s still entertaining kids today.

Watch these new and old classics for laughs this month while you kick back and entertain yourself at home.

Based on the Broadway play of the same name, Bell, Book and Candle is an Oscar and Golden Globe-nominated comedy from 1958 starring Jimmy Stewart in his last romantic lead role, plus Kim Novak and Jack Lemmon. You’ll enjoy this wacky, witch-themed story of familiars and love spells that take over the lives of a group of neighbors in New York City’s Greenwich Village

Paving the way for her future work as Black Widow in Avengers, the Oscar-nominated Ghost World stars Scarlett Johansson in her first comic-book-to-screen film. She and Thora Birch play a pair of cynical, prank-phone-calling best-friends as they forge into adulthood the summer after graduation.

Starring Raul Julia, Angelica Houston, Christopher Lloyd, Christin Ricci and Joan Cusack, Addams Family Values is another pick for movie night that’s entertaining for the whole family. If you’re like me and doing movie night quite regularly now, this is a crowd pleaser for kids and one that you’ll giggle at too.

It’s very slapstick, ridiculous, and has way too many puns and play on words, but it somehow doesn’t disappoint even after 50 years! If you’re feeling nostalgic for your ’80’s childhood, put this one on for a lazy Saturday afternoon.

Pour yourself a glass of vino and settle in for a documentary about a corner of the wine world where bottles sell for tens of thousands of dollars. Sour Grapes scores a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes and tells the fascinating true story of a wine savant who conned investors with his counterfeited wine blends that he sold for millions over time.

If you’re a Reese Witherspoon fan like me and are loving Little Fires Everywhere on Hulu (also starring Kerri Washington), why not check out her debut film, The Man in the Moon? I loved this coming-of-age movie set in Louisiana that also scores a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes.

If you’re missing sports right now, I recommend Bull Durham to get you out of your baseball-missing blues. Based on director Ron Shelton’s own experience in the minor leagues in Texas, Bull Durham also stars Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins.

Netflix’s Spenser Confidential, starring Mark Wahlberg and Winston Duke just out on March 6 is loosely based on this original series from the ‘80’s as well as the Spenser novels by Robert B. Parker.

And lastly, if you still need more TV series, try out seasons 1–4 of The Glades. This crime drama, that kind of reminds me of CSI: Miami, debuted on A&E with 3.6 million viewers, which at the time, set a new A&E audience record for an original drama series telecast.
