Old School RuneScape’s DMM tournament begins this Friday | Articles

Old School RuneScape players are no doubt prepping for this Friday’s competitive DMM tournament. If this is the first you’ve heard of it, this month-long tournament is part of Jagex’s contribution to the #PlayApartTogether initiative, which we’ve covered several times over this last month or so.

The idea is that all players will start from scratch with a new character, who they’ll then have to level up as quickly as possible. DMM (or Deadman Mode) plays out on a PvP server where you run the risk of losing progress on death. As you might imagine, things can get pretty tense in no time flat.

Following the opening stages, the top 2,000 players will then progress to the live finale on May 30th. Cue an epic battle where the total number of contestants will be whittled down to 256. The best of the best will then face one another in 1v1 knockout rounds. This will keep going until a winner eventually emerges.

Jagex will donate £25,000 to its three partnered charities: CPSL Mind, The Prince’s Trust, and Rise Above The Disorder. This donation is part of its £100,000 commitment to support their work throughout the ongoing pandemic.

The prizes up for grabs include:

  • 1st Place: $1,000 USD, The Razer Ultimate Bundle (Basilisk Ultimate +Huntsman Elite + Firefly V2 + Nari Ultimate), Intel i9 9900k CPU, Intel SSD, Intel Swag Bag (Hoodie, t-shirt, mouse mat), 1 Year Old School RuneScape Membership
  • 2nd Place: $500 USD, Razer BlackWidow Elite, Intel SSD, Intel Swag Bag, 1 Year Old School RuneScape Membership
  • 3rd & 4th Place: $250 USD, Razer Kraken Ultimate + Base Station Chroma OR Viper Ultimate + Gigantus Team Razer, 1 Year Old School RuneScape Membership
  • 5th – 16th Place: 1 Year Old School RuneScape Membership

Very nice indeed, and it’s all in aid of a great cause, so be sure to hop on Old School RuneScape when the DMM tournament kicks off this Friday.
