Greetings Seibertronians! Fellow Seibertron user, LinaNui has informed us that fellow Seibertron user and toy reviewer, PrimeVsPrime, has posted a new video review of none other then the forthcoming Titan Class figure from Earthrise, Scorponok! This much anticipated figure is the last of the city bots to be visited in titan class form. While in the old toy, Scorponok’s head was the same size as the normal head master figures, this time, he’s been approached the same as his rival, Fortress Maximus. This means Scorponok’s head turns into another robot with a titan master forming that head in turn.

Check out the review below and sound out your thoughts in the Energon Pub and stay tuned to Seibertron for all the latest news and reviews!

He really looks impressive.

WOW! I’m thoroughly impressed! He looks very solid and detailed, and the paint is sharp all around. The base mode is crap, but I don’t care because mine will never see it. Scorpion mode is okay, but personally I buy Titans for their imposing robot modes. I think it’s great that his visor can be removed and he actually has optics underneath. My only complaint is that the back ends of his claws are too long. I know it’s for attaching the shield, but it looks like it might get in the way of posing. And I was hoping that he would have actual separated toes instead of 1 block for a foot, and that they would be purple, not gray. Otherwise, this is a home run. He seems to be shorter than TR Maximus, but that might just make him perfectly in scale with G1 Fort Max. I’m definitely getting this figure when it comes out.

I have the G1 Scorponok original and he’s one of my favorite. This Titan don’t disappoint. The most amazing is how they managed the scorpion legs storage to make them disappear. Simple yet effective. However, WHERE IS HIS BIG GUN? That’s missing. I also know Full-Tilt will be available separately. But for his main hand gun and maybe the radar dishes for city mode, a 3P upgrade kit will be pretty much mandatory.
Regardless of it’s faults (and the obvious hollow parts) is a sure buy for me.

He doesn’t need the gun. It was awkward for the original toy to have it as well.

As a fan and owner of the G1 original, I don’t agree at all. Sure, holding it was awkward but it’s just a nice touch of overkill.

Plus the G1 big gun split in two and act as towers for the city mode and that’s genius.

Preordered mine from amazon with discount a while back, hoping the savings can go to an upgrade set for him.

The non splayable fixed legs are crap and doesn’t look like they can be upgraded easily or if at all. Base modes lacking a lot of the orange bits and bobs (even if g1s lift was unusable). Robot mode- if the chrome bits can attach to legs instead of the pretty poor looking shield it might be better.

Def needs his other shoulder guns preferably pivoting with replacements for those he comes with and his two piece hand gun would be nice. Looks like a cthru visor will be doable too which is nice.

The feet def look better than they did in the toy fair photos. Not sure where or if Scorponok has any connectivity to other bases or if he’s getting blast effects.

Scorponok’s looking amazing. Only issue I have with him is the fact that he doesn’t have the silver on the legs, but even then that’s not a big issue

You can make the silver on his legs by having a dinkier shield.
But eh, this beast beg for an upgrade kit. With the insane amount of ports he have all over, we could add anything.

He does look awesome, love what they did with the scorpion head, really massive improvement ove the original. That and his size… I mean how could the autobots ever lose if fortress max was twice the size of his decepticon counterpart?

He’s already on order.. my only niggles are to do with the lack of a gun as has been pointed out. The g1 toy did make it seem a bit undersized, but the box artwork always made it look cool in my head. A new version would definitely have to be proportioned better. Also, the other little bits and pieces that went to make his base mode. Sure the radar dishes might be extra pieces that can be lost… but maybe some sort of lift or some levers could’ve been incorporated in the legs. The other Issue I have concerns the shoulder cannons, they look great but really hoped they’d be articulated like we saw in the cartoon. Also, there’s only 2 as opposed to the original toy’s four.

Gripes aside, can’t wait to include him in my collection, love how most of the titans turned out, with perhaps metroplex and fortress being the weakest entries, the rest have been awesome.

Scorponok looks great. I’m also so glad they didn’t make him smaller like Trypticon. Also there was some early rumors he had parts sharing with Omega Supreme. Glad to know he is unique, and big enough to be Fort Max rival, undoing the error of the original Can’t wait to get it

 You do realize that Trypticon’s G1 toy was somewhat taller than Metroplex’s G1 toy because it was in fact substantially bigger than Metroplex (and between that and the motor, cost almost twice as much), yes?

TR Trypticon meanwhile is the same size as T30 Metroplex. He’s just shorter because being a T. Rex in robot mode means that size is distributed differently; a lot of it’s in the big fat T. rex tail, for instance, plus he has a consistently thick torso (especially when you factor in his back)…

Scorponok’s robot mode height is also affected by his tail (hence why he’s not quite as tall as Metroplex and Fort Max), but not as much since it’s not as huge as Trypticon’s (Tryps’ tail is the same length as his entire torso). On the upside, his height is boosted by the fact that his robot mode is humanoid rather than bestial.

YES AND YES!!! They will be bought as soon as i see them. Now where are the aotobot clones?

Re: New Video Review of Transformers Earthrise Titan Class Scorponok (

Yup. All of the above.
Generation Metroplex can be this tall because he’s such a lean and lanky boi.
For Trypticon to be eye to eye with Metroplex, it should have TWICE the mass. That would be ridiculous.

This Scorponok is now the true rival that Fortmax deserved. Especially with the deluxe heads. But I hated my CW Fortmax so I sold him, being too much of a Metroplex clone. My ER Scorpy will fight G1 Fortmax instead.

I will buy this Scorponok but I will also buy the most likely upcoming 100$ upgrade kit. There’s too many bits missing compared to the G1 original:

— Need two more gray canons. Maybe replace all of them to make the canons posable.
— The big gun that can split into city towers.
— Radars and bits for the city mode. Those could combine into a bot like the deluxe “armor” guys.
— Two proper silver “armor plates” to complete the bot mode for his legs.

Still, for those with no attachment to the G1 toy, this ER version is incredible and very complete.

The problem the designers had would have been to include all that stuff but have Scorp be diminished size wise and more hollow. Afterall, the designers had limits they had to adhere to, no matter what we may have wished. Still I think the compromises were worth it

Exactly. To achieve a TRIPLE CHANGER city bot that fit the size and budget, compromises had to be made. That’s why the upgrade kit will add another 100+$ to the price of the figure. Something HasTak were not allowed to do. 250$CAN is expensive as it is for a normal retail product. No stores would take on a 400$CAN toy.

Hell, E.B Games were supposed to have MP-44 as an exclusive but they never got it. Look like they don’t want to have a 600$CAN toy in inventory after all.

I completely forgot about that EB Games exclusivity :-? Did they ever release a statement saying they decided not to carry it?

This stuff, plus I wish there was an optional clear face shield for some real G1 figure/Mega Zarak cartoon authenticity.

Also wish he could use his tail stinger in bot mode like the original, but not even an upgrade kit can fix that it seems.

I really do love that all the hollow spots actually serve a purpose in at least one mode and gets covered when not in use (aside from the ankles in bot mode). Nice having somewhere to put the shield in scorpion mode.

Here’s a question though, say that Takara decides to do a Selects Black Zarak, how would they manage the head? In the story for Masterpiece he wasn’t a headmaster anymore, having wired himself into the core of the transector. I mean easiest option would just give the head units a new coat of paint (after the retool of course) but would they even need to include the Titan master?

The big visor on the G1 toy may have been unsightly but it kind of needs it for cartoon accuracy in scorpion mode, so hopefully some kind of clip on attachment. For me this is one of the most disappointing titans but already ordered it… And if they release it as black zarak I’ll be buying it again :)

I don’t think it really matter. Case in point, the whole Titan Return line.
