Marvel Legends Crimson Dynamo Series Black Widow Review |

Our look at the Marvel Legends Crimson Dynamo wave continues with the star of the show, Black Widow. Let’s take a look!

The box is the usual deal with a large window and snazzy art on the sides and back. This art mostly matches what you get, though the hair and the truncheons are longer. The truncheons appear to me to have shape shifting ability so I’m cool with that.

She comes with fists, pistol grip hands, pistols and truncheons as well as Crimson Dynamo’s leg. It’s a good amount of stuff for a regular figure and I always appreciate when I get fists for a fighting character.

The truncheons are cast in an annoying soft plastic and don’t hold their form well. They can fit in the backpack, but I don’t feel as if they both can go in far enough to look right. They sit high, but I still kind of like the look.

The guns are getting familiar as they seem to be the same as the ones that came with deluxe Natasha and Yelena Belova. These work great for me and I like that they fit securely in the hands and the holsters.

The massive chunk of CD’s leg is making me glad I got the whole wave because I’m digging the look of this chunky off-brand Crimson Dynamo way more than I thought I would.

The sculpting is a lot of the same parts as the deluxe Widow, so what I say about sculpting and articulation about that figure largely applies here. Natasha has:

  • Swivel/hinge head, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, and ankles (though the ankle swivel doesn’t work to stabilize poses due to the high heels)
  • Ball jointed mid-torso
  • Swivel thighs
  • Double hinged knees

I feel like I got a little more movement out of the mid-torso joint here. Oddly enough her face feels slightly different from the deluxe figure with a slightly less smirky expression.

I also really like the inclusion of gray and the larger gold bracelets in her costume as it calls to mind some classic comic looks. The paint is very sharp and I especially like the high gloss on the boots and shoulder pads. It feels very G.I. Joe to me.

Overall I like this figure a little more than the deluxe version. It moves slightly better and I like the more stoic expression and classic costume nods. All the usual early movie release figure caveats apply of course as I don’t think her hair is on model for the film, but that’s not an overwhelming problem for me for this figure.
