The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Halts Filming in Prague Over Coronavirus Fears

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Halts Filming in Prague Over Coronavirus Fears

With Coronavirus spreading across the globe, governments are taking the necessary steps to ensure the safety of their citizens. Now, the effects of the pandemic have hit the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Deadline is reporting that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was just forced to shut down production in Prague due to concerns over the disease.

The series set up shop in Prague last Friday and was only going to shoot there for about a week. However, the Czech government’s recent decision to ban film screenings (including the Prague Film Festival), elementary and high school classes, and sporting and cultural events has thrown a wrench into the production’s gears. As a result, all cast and crew members are heading back to Atlanta. Deadline notes that a return to the Prague to resume shooting “seems unlikely.”

Deadline’s report offers no indication that this latest development will delay the series’ premiere on Disney+. It’s also worth noting that this isn’t the first setback that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has faced since production began in October. The cast and crew were intending to venture out to Puerto Rico in January to film a few scenes. Unfortunately, the recent series of earthquakes in the region brought these plans to a halt.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is still targeting an August launch date on Disney+.
