Well the internet has pretty much agreed, Avatar: The Last Airbender is officially amazing. It has been one of the top shows on Netflix for months and for good reason. We’ve already covered some of the amazing characters, spinoffs and moments in the critically acclaimed animated series. Now’s the time for us to focus on something a little darker. That’s right, it’s time for the villains.

Avatar might be known for its fun and silly heroes but it also has some of the most terrifying and powerful villains the Nickelodeon network has ever produced. Sorry Plankton, you don’t even come close!

The show features several minor villains that return throughout the series to torment our heroes before inevitably being bested by Team Avatar. These range from spirit monsters to evil moon-killing Admirals and even silent tattooed assassins.

The series also has some of the most intimidating main villains of all time. What truly makes them so memorable isn’t just the threat they pose but the fact that they are fully developed characters in their own right. Some take a long path that eventually leads to redemption. Others are shown to be formidable in one light but insane and broken in another.

Then there’s the main villain who is just as evil as evil can be. We all know what happens at the end of the series, but wouldn’t you like to know what happens after?

Why don’t we find out together as we count down Avatar: The Last Airbenders best bad guys!
