Art Prof Clara Lieu and Teaching Artists Cat Huang and Alex Rowe talk about how to start a comic. There are many components to the process: coming up with the idea for the comic, determining the length, the panel format, designing the environments and characters, the drawing process, figuring out what art media to work in, and more.

ART PROF SHARE, Johnny Mack
“I watched the Anatomy For Artists video that emphasized the importance of considering the skull and facial structure when creating a portrait. [https://youtu.be/uD-YtaSjhZg]I learned how the chin, jaw, ear, and the zygomatic arch are all interconnected and how this helps locate their position on the face. Also, learned the importance of establishing the eye socket before drawing the eye. It gave critical guides in drawing each of the facial features.
So, in this set of drawings I tried to bring out the underlying structure through shape and shadow, focusing on the zygomatic arch, hair volume, jaw, nasal bone, chin and the features around the lips My biggest takeaway was to start a portrait by first establish the basic skeletal structure first before drawing specific features.”
