Interview with Comic Artist Michele Assarasakorn, aka M.Sassy.K, a 2011 MTM grad

Michele Assarasakorn, a.k.a M.Sassy.K, has come full circle in her work as an illustrator. She started off her diploma at MTM in Illustration for Sequential Arts, then switched to Concept Art (which she graduated from in 2011) and now primarily works as a comic book artist. She thought that background art for video games would be where she would have ended up, but she came back to her love of comics. So skeptics beware, there is money in the comic book world!

In her interview, Michele talks about her journey as an International student, how the art foundations she learned at MTM have been invaluable in her artistic career, and how to make your life and career work for you as a freelancer. You’ll also see examples of Michele’s artwork throughout the video and why it’s important to design your portfolio to get the kind of work assignments that you want!

This is a terrific video for anyone who’s a fan of M.Sassy.K or a lover of the ISOLA series, for those new in the field of illustration, sequential arts -especially comics and graphic novels- and for anyone thinking of pursuing this line of work.
