The Incredible Hulk is a fictional superhero that has appeared in comic books published in the United States by Marvel Comics. The character was initially introduced in the very first issue of The Incredible Hulk comic book, which was written by Stan Lee and illustrated by Jack Kirby (May 1962). The character, who has dissociative identity disorder (DID), is primarily represented in his comic book appearances by the alter Hulk, who is a green-skinned, hulking and muscular humanoid possessing an unlimited degree of physical strength, and the alter Dr. Robert Bruce Banner, who is a physically weak, socially withdrawn, and emotionally reserved physicist. Both of these versions of the character typically resent each other.

Banner is able to physically transform into the Hulk when he is subjected to emotional stress, whether at his own volition or against his better judgement. This transformation occurs as a result of Banner’s accidental exposure to gamma rays while attempting to save Rick Jones’ life during the detonation of an experimental bomb. This metamorphosis frequently results in destructive rampages as well as confrontations that make Banner’s life in the civilian world more difficult. It is commonly believed that the Hulk’s degree of power is directly proportional to the amount of fury he is feeling. The Hulk is most frequently portrayed as a raging savage; however, he has also been given other personas, such as those of a mindless, destructive force (War), a brilliant warrior (World-Breaker), a self-hating protector (the Devil/Immortal), a self-respecting genius scientist (Doc Green), and a gangster (Joe Fixit). It is later revealed that Banner’s DID was formed as a result of him being abused by his father Brian when he was a child, and that the alters known as Fixit and the Devil/Immortal Hulk first manifested during his childhood. Additionally, a malevolent identity that embodied Banner’s guilt, shame, and regret toward his father (based on him) manifested as the Guilt during this time.

Lee has indicated that a combination of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde with Frankenstein was the source of inspiration for the development of the Hulk. Green is the colour that most frequently appears for the Hulk, despite the fact that the Hulk’s appearance has changed throughout the course of his publication history.

The character, which is widely considered to be one of the most iconic figures in contemporary popular culture, has been featured on a wide range of merchandising, such as clothing and collectible items; it has also inspired real-world structures (such as theme park attractions); and it has been referenced in a variety of different forms of media. Banner and the Hulk have been reimagined in a variety of mediums, including live-action movies, animated films, and video games. Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno were the first actors to portray the live-action version of the character in the television series The Incredible Hulk, which debuted in 1978.

The Avengers are a superhero team that only exists in the Marvel Comics universe, which is a fictional universe that exists in the United States and is published by Marvel Comics. Stan Lee, a writer and editor, and Jack Kirby, an artist and co-plotter, were responsible for the formation of the squad, which was published for the first time in The Avengers #1 (cover dated September 1963). Iron Man, Ant-Man, Hulk, Thor, and Wasp were the members of the superhero team known as the Avengers. They were dubbed “Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.” On issue number four, Captain America was found frozen to death in the ice, and the other heroes brought him back to life so he could join them.

The Avengers are a Marvel Comics team comprised of some of the most popular and well-known superheroes from across the company’s many titles. In the fictional universe, these superheroes normally pursue their missions on an individual basis but will occasionally band up to take on particularly dangerous bad guys. This is in contrast to other superhero teams, such as the X-Men, whose characters were developed expressly for the purpose of being a part of their team, with the team serving as an essential component of their identities. In order to generate a new line of books to sell and to engage in character cross-promotion, Marvel Comics came up with the idea of The Avengers. A reader who is interested in Iron Man may purchase an Avengers book because Iron Man features in it. This reader may then develop an interest in Thor because Thor also appears in the same book as a friend and comrade of Iron Man. Alongside a number of lesser-known characters who gain from exposure, such as Quicksilver, the cast typically includes a few extremely popular characters like Iron Man who have their own solo novels, in addition to a handful of characters like Quicksilver who are introduced for the first time.

Outside of comic books, the Avengers have made appearances in a broad variety of other media, such as various different animated television series and films that were released directly to video. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a series of movies produced by Marvel Studios beginning in 2008 and finishing with The Avengers in 2012. There have been more appearances of the team in movies produced after The Avengers.
