THE DUKE (2021) Official Trailer [HD] Jim Broadbent, Helen Mirren

#TheDukeFilm In Cinemas 3rd September

THE DUKE is the true story of Kempton Bunton, a 60-year old taxi driver, who stole Goya’s portrait of the Duke of Wellington from the National Gallery in London. It was the first (and remains the only) theft in the Gallery’s history.

Kempton sent ransom notes saying that he would return the painting on condition that the government invested more in care for the elderly – he had long campaigned for pensioners to receive free television. What happened next became the stuff of legend. Only 50 years later did the full story emerge – Kempton had spun a web of lies. The only truth was that he was a good man, determined to change the world and save his marriage – how and why he used the Duke to achieve that is a wonderfully uplifting tale.

  1. would you look at that professor Slughorn doing something good for nothing in return hmmm

  2. "Every time someone gets cut off from the rest of us this country gets a foot shorter!"

  3. Not very good, is it?

    Yeah, I agree

  4. "I had faith.. in people." Ah, I see where the mistake was made..

  5. OMG!!! Prof. Slughorn became a thief!! All he needed to do is utter the "accio" spell and the painting would've been his. And he could've turned it invisible and nobody would've discovered it.

  6. What a relief! And with Helen Mirren! Pure Joy!

  7. Βρετανίλα. Είμαι μέσα.

  8. We need something like this to watch! Looks so good!

  9. I am surprised they didn't manage to shoe horn Bill Nighy ( The English actor) into the cast somewhere as per normal. Yet another film made by Luvvies and for Luvvies. This looks like a total waste of 1 hour and 30 minutes telling another twee very British story that no one including the average British audience is going to bother paying to see.

  10. they showed us the whole movie?!

  11. We need someone like him today. A everyday hero/ heroine with loads of common sense.
Someone fighting for the greater good, not themselves.

  12. What a great yarn. Good on him. The bastards (and bitches) get away with anything. Nice to see someone put it up 'em for once.

  13. Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren are two of my favorite actors, and especially when it looks like a great story. Next week will be 2 years since I've been to a movie in a theater, the first year I was sort of sick (I'm an old guy) and the 2nd year was damned covid etc. I hope it shows up in a theater.

  14. Well, looks like the sort of sentimental, feel-good twaddle that people love, so I'm sure it will do well. (The historical figure on whom this is based, wanted the government to get rid of the television licence fee, which he resented having to pay.)

  15. Ozymandias playing a lawyer I see

  16. so when is this coming??????

  17. If the Govenor let's us go out of our houses I might go to see this. Of course, only if we have permission to after the 21st….

  18. Now that the American movie is in ruins, I'm going to enjoy patronizing the movies that deserve my money. Thank you, The Duke.

  19. My kind of movie in these troubled times.

  20. Can't wait to see this!!

    <lives in US> Oh $&#* . . .

  21. Wasn't that the entire movie?

  22. Can’t wait to see this.

  23. This promises to be a great opportunity to return to the theaters, at least

  24. Not slated for release until September 03, in the UK. We may never see it in the States at that rate. I suppose that gives it time to be advertised to death, so we all sit shoulder to shoulder at the cinema.

  25. Looks wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. In a perfect world this is the kind of movie that has all the hype of Avengers and makes billions.

  26. Bloody oscars. BAFTAS!!! And the rest of the European Awards!!

  27. Oh yes. This looks like just my cup of tea.

  28. Sounds really touching, however it's likely not going to score enough political correctness points to earn any awards and likely to be decried for lack of "diversity"…

  29. How I missed watching a movie with a good refreshing story ❤

  30. Jim Broadbent is just wonderful.

  31. Yawn, a lot of these British movies and shows are dreadfully boring. I think the Americans do a far better job.
