How to Draw Action Poses - Comic Book Superheroes - Narrated

In this video I draw some superhero action poses and talk about the process. After that we look at the work and critique it to learn how to improve for future drawings. This exercise will help you to get better at drawing superhero poses from the mind. Using your imagination to edit the poses is very important for creating comics quickly and effectively.

A comic book, sometimes known as a comicbook, a comic magazine, or simply a comic in the United Kingdom and Ireland, is a publication made up of sequential juxtaposed panels that depict separate scenes. Panels are frequently accompanied by descriptive text and written narration, with dialogue typically contained in word balloons, which is a hallmark of the comics art style. Although comic books can be traced back to the 18th century in Eastern Asia, they were first popularised in the United States and the United Kingdom in the 1930s.

Famous Funnies, the first contemporary comic book, was published in the United States in 1933 and was a reprint of earlier newspaper humour comic strips that developed many of the story-telling tactics employed in comics. The name “comic book” comes from the term “comic strip.”

Japan is the world’s largest comic book market. By 1995, Japan’s manga market was worth $586.4 billion ($6–7 billion), with yearly sales of 1.9 billion manga books (tankbon volumes and manga magazines) in the country, or 15 issues per person. Due to the rapid development of digital manga sales as well as an increase in print sales, the manga market in Japan will hit a new high of 612.5 billion yen in 2020. In 2016, the combined market for comic books in the United States and Canada was valued at $1.09 billion. Manga began drastically outselling American comics starting in the late 2010s. Manga distributor Viz Media is the largest comic book publisher in the United States as of 2017, followed by DC Comics and Marvel Comics.
