Darren Aronofsky will direct the American psychological thriller film The Whale in 2022. The screenplay for the film was written by Samuel D. Hunter, and it is based on Hunter’s play with the same name that was performed in 2012. Brendan Fraser, Sadie Sink, Hong Chau, Ty Simpkins, and Samantha Morton are among the actors featured in this movie. It depicts the story of a father who weighs 600 pounds (270 kg) and seeks to reunite with his daughter who is seventeen years old.

On September 4, 2022, The Whale debuted in front of an international audience for the first time at the 79th Venice International Film Festival. A24 plans to distribute the film in the United States on December 9, 2022. The movie was met with appreciation for its performances, particularly those of Fraser, Sink, and Chau. However, the usage of a prosthetic outfit and certain choices made by the filmmaker were criticised.

600 lb (270 kg) middle-aged Charlie is making an effort to get back in touch with his daughter, who is now seventeen. After Charlie abandoned his family for another guy, who eventually passed away, the distance between the two deepened. After that, Charlie gave in to feelings of grief and shame by engaging in binge eating, which led to the current state of his appearance.
