American slasher film Scream VI will be released in 2023 and was written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will direct the film alongside one another. This is the sixth installment in the Scream film series as well as the sequel to Scream (2022). In addition to Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Jenna Ortega, Hayden Panettiere, and Courteney Cox, the film also stars Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra, and Samara Weaving. All of these actors have reprised their roles from previous films in the series.

Neve Campbell, who plays Sidney Prescott in the film series and is a star of the film series, said that she would not be returning to the role because she was unhappy with the offer that was made to her. As a result, this is the first film in the series that does not contain the character.

New York City serves as the backdrop for the sixth installment of the Scream film franchise, which is the third in the series to take place outside of the fictional town of Woodsboro, California. The plot centres on a new Ghostface, who goes after the people who survived the “Woodsboro Legacy Attacks.” In addition to satirising the current trend of film franchises and subverting the expectations of the audience, the movie combines the gore and bloodshed of the slasher subgenre with elements of black humour and a “whodunit” mystery.

On March 6, 2023, the premiere of Scream VI took place at the AMC Lincoln Square Cinema in Manhattan. The film was released in theatres across the United States by Paramount Pictures on March 10 of that same year. The film was met with mostly favourable reviews from critics, who appreciated both the kills and the acting.

Laura Crane, a professor of film studies at New York University, is lured outside of a pub in the city and murdered by Jason Carvey, a student at the university who was dressed as Ghostface. Jason and his roommate Greg hatch a plan to murder the two sisters who work at the carpentry shop, but Jason gets a call from another Ghostface, who tells him that he has already killed Greg and will now stab him to death.
