The Little Mermaid Live-Action Remake Swims into Theaters..

Fans have been eagerly waiting to see what the movie’s star-studded cast, including Halle Bailey, Javier Bardem, Melissa McCarthy and Awkwafina, will bring to the iconic roles. And they’re in for a treat – the movie is already getting rave reviews from early screenings.

The original animated film was released in 1989 and quickly became a classic. It tells the story of Ariel, a mermaid who longs to be human, and her adventures above the sea.

The live-action remake stays true to the original while adding some new twists. It’s sure to be a hit with fans of all ages.

On May 26, 2023, “The Little Mermaid,” a live-action version of the studio’s Oscar®-winning animated musical classic, will premiere exclusively in theatres across the country. The picture was directed by the imaginative filmmaker Rob Marshall.

The classic tale “The Little Mermaid” tells the tale of Ariel, a lovely and headstrong young mermaid who has a need for excitement and new experiences. Ariel, the youngest and most headstrong of King Triton’s daughters, has a strong desire to learn more about the world above the ocean. When she finally has the chance to do so, she finds herself falling in love with the handsome Prince Eric.

Even though it is against the rules for mermaids to contact with humans, Ariel needs to do what is in her heart. She strikes a deal with the wicked sea witch, Ursula, that allows her to get a taste of life on land, but in the end, it puts both her life and her father’s throne in peril.

Singer and actress Halle Bailey plays the title role of Ariel in the movie. Tony Award® winner Daveed Diggs (“Hamilton,” “Snowpiercer”) provides the voice of Sebastian; Jacob Tremblay (“Luca,” “Room”) provides the voice of Flounder; Awkwafina (“Raya and the Last Dragon”) provides the voice of Scuttle; Jonah Hauer-King (“A Dog’s Way Home”) portrays Prince Eric; Art Malik (”

The live-action story adaptation of “The Little Mermaid” was created by David Magee, Rob Marshall, and two-time Emmy winner John DeLuca (“Tony Bennett: An American Classic”), and was based on the short story written by Hans Christian Andersen and the Disney animated film that was directed by Ron Clements and John Musker.

“The Little Mermaid” was directed by Oscar® nominee Rob Marshall (“Chicago,” “Mary Poppins Returns”), and was written The film is being produced by three-time Tony Award® winner Lin-Manuel Miranda (“Hamilton,” “In the Heights”), two-time Emmy® winner Rob Marshall, and two-time Emmy® winner John DeLuca, with Jeffrey Silver (“The Lion King”) serving as executive producer.

Marc Platt (“Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert,” “Grease Live!”), Rob Marshall, and John DeLuca are also producing the film. Alan Menken (“Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin”), who won two Academy Awards® for the music in the animated version of “The Little Mermaid,” composed the score.

The music was supervised and produced by Mike Higham (“Mary Poppins Returns,” “Into the Woods”), who also won multiple Oscars® for the music in the animated version of “The Little Mermaid.” The score was composed by Alan Menken, the lyrics were written by Howard Ashman, and Lin-Manuel Miranda contributed fresh lyrics.
