Here is how to paint rusty metal the easy way. Rather then sending all of the rust off of the metal, you could buy a rest converting primer, which mixes with the rust and converts it into a primer paint that protects the middle underneath. You can paint over it once you are done, or you can just use it as a standalone coat of paint. If you want to paint rusty metal, and you don’t care if it looks really good or not, rust converting primer is a great option, and it is a lot faster and cheaper than sending all the rust off of the metal before you paint it.
