Is This What The God Of War Sequel Is About?

Thanks to the success of the new 2018 God of War game, we can probably expect a number of sequels from Sony Santa Monica. In a recent interview, the game’s director, Cory Barlog, discussed a few options for the next installment.

It’s no secret that Kratos‘ journey would continue in another God of War sequel. With so much of the game’s narrative yet to be explored, there are a number of different options for future games.

In a recent interview with PlayStation Access, Cory Barlog commented on what he would like to see in a sequel to one of the best games of 2018. He believes that the next chapter in Kratos’ story should delve into his relationship with his wife, Faye. More specifically, he is interested in how they met and how their relationship evolved. He also believes that the fact that we know how Kratos’ relationship ended would give even more weight to the possibility of exploring how the relationship started.

“The story of Faye and Kratos meeting — there’s less weight when you don’t know anything that’s coming ahead, right? Meeting her needs to actually feels like something.. that you already know the story that we told here, so that there’s a greater weight behind who she is. She’s got a mythology built up.”

Of course, this does not mean that the God of War sequel will eventually end up exploring this part of Kratos’ life. However, it would make for an interesting narrative seeing a younger and perhaps angrier Kratos evolve into the man we see in the 2018 game.

Barlog has previously commented on how he would like future games to explore a variety of settings, such as ancient Egypt and even Mayan locations.

Many are expecting the God of War sequel to be bigger, better and even more visually impressive when it finally releases on Sony’s next-gen console, the PlayStation 5. It seems safe to say that Kratos’ journey as the God of War is far from over.
