Making Saturday night plans to have fun with friends doesn’t have to be difficult. Ensuring that everyone has a good time is what makes it challenging, but the right idea is all you really need to have a stress-free, fun-filled evening.

Anything you enjoy doing will depend on personal interests, whether you want to have a dinner party night, watch sports, or play bingo with friends. If you’re looking for a few ideas that could point you in the right direction, take a look at the following seven ways to have fun on a Saturday night.

Dance the night away

Club and bar hopping are traditions as old as time, and dancing your way through town can be a liberating experience. If you enjoy living the nightlife, there isn’t much that beats hypnotic rhythms, a festive atmosphere, and plenty of party people.

Dancing isn’t just a great form of exercise; it’s also an excellent stress reliever and has the ability to transform the mood of a party in an instant. Best of all, you don’t have to go out to enjoy a good shuffle, and no matter where you decide to hang out, music will only add to the experience.

Do a board game night

Board games offer tons of variety that appeals to all different kinds of people, from the slow and steady pace of Chess to the frantic energy of 30 Seconds. There are strategy games like Risk, trivia games like Trivial Pursuit, and physical games like Twister.

What we’re trying to say is that there are board games you will enjoy playing, and there are some that won’t appeal to you. Check with your friends beforehand regarding which game you all want to play. That way, you won’t have to worry about anyone getting bored, or worse, regretting their involvement.

Play video games

When it comes to entertainment, there isn’t much that can beat an interactive experience.  Nowadays, video games are the most popular form of media, and co-op and multiplayer games are well-known for bringing people together.

For example, party games, such as Mario Kart and Among Us provide the perfect group activity for gamers. If escapades of the virtual kind aren’t your usual choice of pastime, it might interest you to know that there are also digital versions of most physical games, such as card games, board games, and even tabletop games.

Watch a movie

Why not organize a movie night if you and your friends are film buffs? You could go to the theater or stay in, grab a few snacks and some drinks, and just enjoy whichever film or whatever genre you prefer.

Whether it’s a silver screen classic, a cult hit, or a ‘so bad it’s good’ trainwreck, your film of choice has to be captivating enough to keep everyone’s attention. That’s a lot easier said than done, which is why it’s worth repeating that the best thing you can do to avoid unnecessary trouble is simply to ask your friends for their input.

Head to a sports game

Watching a live sports game at home is all well and good, but nothing can compare to being there in the moment. Going to watch a game is something every sports fan should do at least once in their life, regardless of which sport it is.

Do you know what makes a live game even better? Doing it with friends, of course. You could attend a game on any day of the week, but Saturday evening is prime time for nearly all major sporting events. Any live event is great for a night out, even if it doesn’t involve sport.

Throw a themed party

Costume parties and other themed events provide a welcome blanket of relatability. All of your friends get a conversation starter right off the bat, and a clever idea for a theme will have your friends ranting and raving about how awesome you are.

Want to turn up the heat and get some excitement going? Make it a competition to see who can come up with the best outfit. You could even add a prize for the winner as a little extra incentive. If you’re on a tight budget, consider a shared pot to which everyone can contribute.

Go back to basics

A hearty meal shared amongst friends can work wonders. Just the simple act of sitting down together, indulging those taste buds, and having an honest conversation is enough to make memorable moments.

You can prepare a meal at home, head to a restaurant, or go for a picnic. If you’re at home or outdoors, it could be worthwhile to take a board game or a deck of cards along with you. That way, you always have something to fall back on if you need a distraction.

Most of the time, a prepared party is better than winging it. However, there’s nothing wrong with being spontaneous and just going where the night takes you. Do whatever appeals to you the most, and you will find that the rest falls into place naturally.
