Mythic Legions Monday strikes again with another new figure from the Wastelands wave, the Goblin War Leader Thumpp! Let’s take a look!

Thumpp comes in the standard large blister card with beautiful Nate Baertsch artwork on the back and an interesting bio on the side. Thumpp it seems is deadly with his overlarge hammer, however has suffered some significant head trauma and has a hard time remembering his orders.

Thumpp comes with a elven style scimitar, a short axe, a massive war hammer, two removeable shoulder pads and a weapons strap. The sword is a personal favorite of mine and I like the novelty of the bright red handle and the slight weathering of the metallic silver blade.

The axe is another lovely detailed weapon. The simple paint job is effective and I like the how the wash brings out the detailed sculpting of the wooden handle.

The war hammer is also really cool. I especially like the almost mold green wash on some of the pieces. The long handle makes it an easy to pose two-handed weapon for Thumpp.

Thumpp also comes with a weapons strap though using it in conjunction with the massive shoulder pads is a little difficult.

The shoulder pads are much larger than the usual Goblin shoulder pads and, in conjunction with the pronounced jaw of the head, lends him a more brutish appearance than the typical goblin.

You can pose him upstanding, but I think he’s designed to be crouched forward because he looks a lot better crouched thus.

Thumpp makes good use of the Goblin legion builder body with a new head and faulds that appear to be from the Orcs. The new head is full of obstinate character and lovely detail. The only slight quibble I have with it is there are some parting lines that mar the portrait around the mouth somewhat.

The articulation is what we are used to with this line with swivel hinges at the shoulders, elbows, hips, knees, wrists, and ankles. There is a ball and socket head and mid-torso and swivels at the forearm and thigh. The figure moves well, but I do find myself wishing these figures had a couple more points of articulation, particularly a ball and socket at the waist and a free floating swivel/hinge in the wrist.

The paint is interesting in that he has quite a bit of a rusty orange and moldy green wash on the armor. Overall I like this guy a lot, though I’m predisposed to like Goblin figures, the combo of bulky head and shoulders with thin legs makes for an interesting silhouette and a nice addition to the Goblin army.
