List of free apps, extended free trials, and free content on Fire TV and Fire Tablet

Here are popular ad-supported apps you can use to watch TV shows and movies for free — no subscriptions required. Simply download the app on your Fire TV or Fire Tablet to start watching.

• IMDb TV — IMDb TV is a free streaming service with thousands of premier movies and television shows and half the ads of traditional television. IMDb TV is available as an app on Fire TV, Fire Tablet, and Echo Show.
  What can you watch? Popular TV series like Chicago Fire, Schitt’s Creek, and Friday Night Lights, and movies such as, 12 Strong, Shrek Forever After, Blade Runner 2049, and Scooby-Doo.
• Pluto TV — watch 250+ channels of free TV and thousands of on-demand movies and TV shows, for free. Discover 24/7 channels of live news, kids and family shows, comedy and more, plus watch hit films and binge-worthy shows on Pluto TV’s VOD feature. What can you watch? Charlotte’s Web 2, Popeye, classic Bond films and even a 24/7 cats channel.
• Tubi — Tubi offers over 20,000 of your favorite movies and TV shows for free, with a personalization engine to recommend the best content for you. Available on all your favorite devices. What can you watch? A great lineup of reality TV, such as The Bachelor, Hell’s Kitchen, and Duck Dynasty, and hits like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Rugrats Go Wild.
• YouTube — easily queue up a YouTube video on your phone and with one tap, send it to your TV. Or try using your voice to search, “Alexa, find cooking videos on YouTube.” Many musicians are taking to YouTube to stream live sets, watch them on your TV with the YouTube app.
• PBS — watch recently aired episodes from your favorite PBS shows and stream shows from your local PBS station. What can you watch? Ken Burns’ documentaries like Baseball and Country Music, escape to Yosemite and other breathtaking places on Nature, and find favorites like Call the Midwife.
• Xumo — over 160 different channels to choose from, including newly launched movie channels, breaking news, epic fails, stand-up comedy, sports, news coverage, and more. Available on Fire TV, not on Fire Tablet. What can you watch? Check out the latest from Funny or Die, this week’s celebrity gossip from TMZ, and family friendly content such as Got Talent Global and Family Feud.
• Crackle — Crackle is your go-to destination for free original content, Hollywood blockbusters, and classic TV series. What can you watch? Classic TV shows like 227, All In The Family and Hollywood Hits like Die Hard, Zero Dark Thirty and Alien all free.
• Red Bull TV — Discover channels such as Motor, Gaming, Music, Dance, Snowboarding, Bike or Surfing, and enjoy unrivaled access to events, films, shows, documentaries and more. What can you watch? Go behind the scenes with Teyana Taylor in the new music documentary, Assembly Required or catch fresh tracks with the snowboarding epic, Roadless.
• The CW — with The CW app you can stream all of your favorite CW shows for free. What can you watch? Every episode so far of Nancy Drew, Katy Keene and Batwoman. Watch the last 5 episodes from other hit shows like Riverdale, All American, Legacies, and Supergirl. And on CW Seed you can watch dozens of full series like DC’s Constantine and The Carrie Diaries, all for free.
• Hoopla — with Hoopla, you can borrow movies, TV shows, and audiobooks from your local public library. Simply sign up to using your public library card, and you can stream them through your Fire TV. What can you watch? Favorites such as The Great British Baking Show, Legally Blonde, Emma, and Hamilton: One Shot on Broadway and kid-friendly shows like SpongeBob Squarepants and Paw Patrol.
• Popcornflix — stream over 1500 hundred movies, including comedy, romance, family/kids, drama, action/thrillers, and more. What can you watch? Joaquin Phoenix in I’m Still Here, one of my personal favorites, Sabrina, and A Royal Affair.
• Plex — Plex gives you access to thousands of movies and shows-including documentaries, Bollywood musicals and more. Enjoy music streaming from TIDAL, including 59 million high-quality tracks and 250,000 music videos.

There are also a number of apps that are offering free extended trial offers right now. We will keep this list updated as new ones continue to be added. Keep in mind that trials may automatically renew into subscriptions, and we have noted the standard subscription costs below.

Entertainment

• SHOWTIME is offering a 30-day extended free trial (normally 7 days) through May 2nd. After that, it’s $10.99.
• CBS All Access is offering a 30-day extended free trial (normally 7 days) through April 30th. After that, plans start at $5.99/month.

Kids & Family

• Prime Video is making a selection of kids and family content available free to watch on Prime Video for all Amazon customers. This includes some great Amazon Originals Kids and family shows, such as Pete the Cat and Click Clack Moo, PBS KIDS series, and movies like The Smurfs and Scooby Doo. You can find the full selection of titles available for free in the US here.
• Audible is offering an incredible collection of stories, including titles across six different languages for kids ages 0–18. All stories are free to stream from the Audible app on your desktop, laptop, phone or tablet.
• Amazon FreeTime Unlimited is offering a 3-month family plan for $0.99 through April 15th. After that, it’s $6.99/month for the family plan for Prime members and $9.99/month for non-Prime members. This all-in-one subscription gives kids access to thousands of kid-friendly ebooks, Audible books, videos, and apps, from trusted and recognized sources, including Sesame Street, PBS Kids, Nickelodeon, and Disney. And, with dedicated school and learning categories, it’s easy to find educational content. FreeTime Unlimited is accessible on Fire Tablets, compatible Fire TV, iOS, and Android devices, and more.
• PBS Kids is offering an extended 30-day free trial (normally 7 days) through April 14th. After that, it’s $4.99/month. Watch Arthur, The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, and popular games include Slidea-ma-Zoo, Puppy Quest, and Elmo’s World Games.
• ABCmouse is offering a 30-day free trial and 62% off their annual subscription ($45/year). Perfect for children ages 2–8, ABCmouse.com is the award-winning learning app for reading, math, art, music, and more. Crafted by teachers and educational experts, kids can explore 10,000+ Learning Activities, books, videos, puzzles, printable activities, songs, games, and animations, across all school subjects. Available on Fire Tablet, not on Fire TV.
• Minecraft is offering three free adapted Minecraft Education Edition lessons, including the Human Eye, International Space Station, and Starter Town. They have also included ten worlds from the Marketplace creator community that explore renewable energy, marine biology, Greek history, and more. Available on Fire Tablet, Fire TV Cube (2nd Gen), and Fire TV Stick 4K.
• Toca Boca is offering their farm game for $0.99 for a limited time. Work and play the farmer’s way with Toca Life: Farm. Milk your cows, gather eggs, play the fiddle, and hit the hay right from your living room. Available on Fire Tablet, not on Fire TV.
• Sago Mini Big City is offering their city game for $0.99 for a limited time. Bright lights, busy streets, and sky-high skyscrapers — that’s Sago Mini Big City! Take a ride on the bus, grab lunch at the diner, then explore the museum. Available on Fire Tablet, not on Fire TV.
• Purchase a discounted Amazon FreeTime Unlimited annual plan for $19.99 and get a year of HOMER Reading. HOMER Reading has thousands of reading games, activities, and lessons and is proven to boost early reading scores by 74%. With your FreeTime Unlimited subscription you can experience reading adventures of all kinds with exciting books like Harry Potter, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, The Boxcar Children, and more. Available on Fire Tablet, not on Fire TV.

Lifestyle

• Peloton is offering a 90-day free trial through May 1st. There are over a hundred strength workouts that do not require equipment and even more yoga, meditation, and stretching classes to choose from.

Music

• Spotify is offering a 30-day free trial of Spotify Premium worldwide. Listen to music ad-free, play anywhere — even offline, and enjoy on-demand playback and access to millions of songs and thousands of podcasts.
• Pandora is offering a 30-day trial of Pandora Plus (ad-free but no ability to make and share playlists), and a 60-day trial of Pandora Premium (ad-free and ability to make playlists).
• iHeart Radio is offering 30-day trials of Plus (does not include offline listening, unlimited access to songs, or playlist abilities) and All-Access.
• Amazon Music — Customers in the U.S., UK and Germany who do not yet have a Prime membership, or a subscription to Amazon Music Unlimited, can listen to an ad-supported selection of top playlists and thousands of stations for free on their favorite devices, including Fire TV, Echo, or in the Amazon Music mobile app.
• SiriusXM wants help with a song, a story or something to make you smile. So they are opening up SiriusXM to stream free until 5/15.

For a limited time, some apps have unlocked paid content so all customers can watch with no additional fees. Some do require you to be a current app subscriber (most offer a free trial).

Sports

• NFL is currently providing complimentary access to NFL Game Pass. This offer is available to U.S. and international fans (excludes Canada and China), providing access to replays of past regular and postseason game broadcasts, NFL Originals, and more.
• NBA is offering a free preview to NBA League Pass allowing fans to watch game replays of this season’s biggest moments in addition to NBA classic games.. Fans are invited to sign up and sign in via NBA.com or the NBA app on supported devices to watch free through April 22nd.

Entertainment

• A&E — catch up on past seasons of 60 Days In and Hoarders for free, available now through 6/30.
• Lifetime — Watch every episode of Dance Moms and Bring it for free, and catch up on past seasons of Married at First Sight for free, available now through 5/9.
• PBS is streaming Ken Burns’ four-part film Baseball for free.
• Prime members have access to the first season of select shows on Prime Video Channels at no additional cost to their membership. This list will be refreshed with new shows each month and each first season will only be available for a limited time. Shows streaming April 1 include:

• Pluto TV is featuring the entire Twilight Saga on their Pluto TV Spotlight channel for a week. Starting Monday, April 6th at 8pm ET, they will air the first Twilight movie, then they will air the next movie each night at 8pm for the rest of the week. Additionally, from April 7–10, the previous day’s movie will run before the new movie on that day. Pluto TV will then run a marathon of all five movies each weekend for the rest of April.
• HBO encourages viewers to #stayhomeboxoffice with dozens of free series, documentaries, and Hit Warner Bros. Movies on HBO NOW and HBO GO starting April 3rd. No subscription is required. For a full list of available content, visit the HBO blog here.
• Sling TV has made some premium channels and channels that are typically in add-on packages free for a limited time.
