South Park is that deliciously controversial cartoon show which has made its place amongst the best animated sitcoms of all time thanks to its no-filter humour and somehow charming paper cut-out animation. Obviously, some of the comedy is rather crude but the show is also an excellent social satire and is more intelligent with its directing than often given credit for.

South Park is excellent for bringing in current events, pop culture references and social problems to its stories and conveying them through the view of a group of 10 year olds and the odd characters surrounding them.

There has now been 23 seasons with just over 300 episodes – that is a lot of celebrity cameos and parodies to cram in! Over the course of the series, we’ve seen plenty of deaths, songs, Christmas specials, racism, toilet humour and anti-semitism as well as other controversial subjects. It is impressive, how for all of its mockery, South Park is still going strong today and is maintaining its audience. So it must be doing something right but what section of its audience truly knows the show back to front?
