Batwoman TV Series In Development at The CW

Variety is reporting that the CW is developing a Batwoman series that would debut in 2019 and be Greg Berlanti’s 7th TV DC series for the network. It was announced earlier this year that Katherine Kane aka Batwoman would be introduced in the upcoming crossover event for the news season that that will have characters crossing over from the The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl TV shows. The series will focus on Kate Kane and her passion for social justice. In the comic books she is an out in the open lesbian and a highly trained street fighter primed. The series description also mentions that she will have to overcome her own demons to become the hero she needs to be. What’s also interesting is the idea that Gotham will now be formally introduced into the Berlativerse or Arrow verse officially with the introduction of this character.

Perri Nemiroff and John Rocha sit down to give you their reaction to this news and what they think this series signals for Berlanti and the CW. They offer their thoughts on what an openly gay character dealing with mental health issues could mean for the plotlines that could develop as a result.
