PLOT: Mr. Wolf, Mr. Snake, Mr. Piranha, Mr. Shark and Ms. Tarantula hatch a plot to pull off the ultimate heist.

The Bad Guys is a computer-animated crime comedy film released in 2022 by Universal Pictures and produced by DreamWorks Animation. The film was directed by Pierre Perifel (in his feature directorial debut) from a script by Etan Cohen and is based on Aaron Blabey’s children’s book series of the same name, with Cohen and Patrick Hughes serving as executive producers. Sam Rockwell, Marc Maron, Anthony Ramos, Craig Robinson, and Awkwafina star as a group of criminal animals who, after being apprehended, pretend to try to rehabilitate themselves as model citizens. Even while a new enemy has his own ambitions, their commander, Mr. Wolf, finds himself unexpectedly drawn to change his ways. Zazie Ayoade, Richard Ayoade

Plot

The Bad Guys, a band of criminal animals comprised of Mr. Wolf, Mr. Piranha, Mr. Snake, Mr. Shark, and Ms. Tarantula, are infamous for their audacious thefts while dodging the authorities in a world where humans and anthropomorphic animals coexist. The group, however, attempts to steal a humanitarian award from guinea pig philanthropist Professor Rupert Marmalade IV after being ridiculed on-air by Governor Diane Foxington. Wolf unintentionally assists an elderly woman whom he intended to pickpocket, and is praised for his kind deed. As a result of his wrongdoings and Marmalade’s speech on kindness, Wolf is forced to expose himself and the gang while attempting to flee, which results to their arrest.

While being brought away, Wolf persuades Marmalade to try to reform them instead, fully intending to use the pretext to humiliate Marmalade by snatching his medal. Wolf and the crew are invited to Marmalade’s house, but his lessons prove to be a difficult struggle, as they appear unable to grasp the concept of good behaviour. Marmalade’s plan to have them embark on a rescue expedition to save laboratory guinea pigs ends up being a disaster due to Snake’s propensity to eat guinea pigs.

Foxington considers cancelling the project, but changes his mind as Wolf admits that he despises being disliked for his kind. Foxington admits that she understands and that she still believes in him. As a result, Wolf mulls on the situation and finds himself rescuing a cat from a tree, which Marmalade films and posts online as a viral video. As the cynical Snake feels he is losing touch with his friend, the resulting press helps to turn the Bad Guys’ public image around.
