Why Johnny Depp's Lawyer Camille Vasquez Got Emotional During Amber Heard Trial

Johnny Depp’s lawyer, Camille Vasquez, joined Access Daily’s Mario Lopez in her first one-on-one exclusive TV interview to talk about the trial and her newfound fame. The southern California native worked with Johnny on his defamation trial for over four years and shared her reaction to being a role model. Camille teared up while saying she met a young girl who was pulled out of school to meet her and explained how she hopes continue to work and inspire young Latina girls for years to come.

Camille Vasquez is a well-known attorney in the United States. She is best known for representing actor Johnny Depp in the defamation action that he took against his ex-wife Amber Heard. Vasquez was born on July 6, 1984.

In San Francisco, California, Vasquez was born to parents who were originally from Colombia and Cuba, respectively.

She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication and political science from the University of Southern California in 2006 and received the highest possible honours for her studies there. She graduated from Southwestern Law School with a Juris Doctor degree in the year 2010.

Throughout his legal career, Vasquez has concentrated mostly on litigation and arbitration, most notably in the representation of plaintiffs in defamation lawsuits.

Since the year 2022, she has been working for the law firm Brown Rudnick as a partner in the office that serves the Southern California region.

Vasquez defended Johnny Depp in legal proceedings brought against his previous attorney and business manager, as well as in a defamation action brought against Amber Heard, who was Johnny Depp’s ex-wife.

A member of the film crew who alleges that Johnny Depp physically assaulted them in April 2017 has filed a complaint against Depp for bodily injury, and she will defend Depp in that case as well. Ben Affleck, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Jennifer Lopez are just a few of the other clients she has represented in the past.

She became particularly well-known in the public eye as a result of her role as Depp’s attorney during the Depp v. Heard trial.

The court proceeding was broadcast in real time online, attracting viewers from all over the world. Because of this, Google Trends discovered a large increase in the number of people searching for her name, and a hashtag including her name had more than 980 million impressions on the site for sharing videos known as TikTok. Be a direct result of the trial, she has been referred to as a “instant star” by Vogue. After the verdict was handed down in the case, Vasquez was elevated from the position of associate to that of partner at her firm, Brown Rudnick.

Testimonies and interviews with Vasquez and fellow Brown Rudnick partner Benjamin Chew will be provided for a follow-up documentary series to Johnny vs. Amber, which will air on Discovery+ in 2022.
