Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke join Ali Plumb of BBC Radio 1 to discuss Moon Knight, the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe picture available on Disney+. Oscar explains how he got the parts of Marc Spector, Steven Grant, Moon Knight, and Mr. Knight, and Ali tests him on his English slang. Ethan also recounts how Oscar persuaded him to join the show outside a New York coffee shop.

Oscar Isaac, an American actor, was born on March 9, 1979. He studied acting at the Juilliard School after making his acting debut in the late 1990s, and for the majority of the 2000s, he played tiny roles. Isaac earned the AACTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his role as José Ramos-Horta in the Australian film Balibo (2009). Following supporting parts in prominent films such as Body of Lies (2008), Robin Hood (2010), and Drive (2011), Isaac made his breakthrough in the Coen brothers’ black comedy Inside Llewyn Davis (2013), for which he received a Golden Globe nomination.

With prominent parts in the crime drama A Most Violent Year (2014), the thriller Ex Machina (2015), and the superhero blockbuster X-Men: Apocalypse, Isaac’s career took off (2016). With his leading role as Poe Dameron in the Star Wars sequel trilogy (2015–2019), he gained a global celebrity. Since then, he’s appeared in the science fiction flicks Annihilation (2018) and Dune (2021), as well as the criminal thriller The Card Counter (2021).

Isaac’s television credits include the HBO miniseries Show Me a Hero (2015) and Scenes from a Marriage (2021), for which he won a Golden Globe for Best Actor – Miniseries or Television Film for his portrayal of Nick Wasicsko in the former. In 2022, he began appearing in the Disney+ series Moon Knight as the Marvel Cinematic Universe character Moon Knight.

Moon Knight is an American television miniseries based on the Marvel Comics superhero of the same name produced by Jeremy Slater for the streaming service Disney+. It is Marvel Studios’ sixth television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and it follows the events of the films in the franchise. Mohamed Diab leads the directing crew, with Slater as the head writer.

May Calamawy, Karim El Hakim, F. Murray Abraham, Ethan Hawke, Ann Akinjirin, David Ganly, Khalid Abdalla, and Gaspard Ulliel co-star as Marc Spector / Moon Knight and Steven Grant / Mr. Knight, two alters of a man with dissociative identity disorder (DID). Slater was hired in November after the series was announced in August 2019. Diab was hired in October 2020 to direct four episodes, with directing duo Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead joining in January 2021 to direct the other two. At the time, Isaac was confirmed to star, and he used different accents to differentiate Spector’s various identities.

Ethan Green Hawke (born November 6, 1970) is a writer, director, and actor from the United States. He has four Academy Award nominations and one Tony Award. Hawke’s credits include three feature films, three off-Broadway plays, and a documentary. He’s also the author of three novels and one graphic novel. He made his film debut in the 1985 science fiction film Explorers before breaking out in the 1989 drama Dead Poets Society. He appeared in a number of films before landing a role in the Generation X drama Reality Bites in 1994, for which he received critical acclaim. Hawke co-starred with Julie Delpy in Richard Linklater’s Before trilogy, which included Before Sunrise (1995), Before Sunset (2004), and Before Midnight (2008). (2013).

Hawke has been nominated twice for Academy Awards for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor; his writing contributions to Before Sunset and Before Midnight were recognised, as were his performances in Training Day (2001) and Boyhood (2001). (2014). Hawke was also nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for both films, as well as a British Academy Film Award and a Golden Globe Award for the latter. With Chelsea Walls, he made his directorial debut (2001). His other films include the science fiction drama Gattaca (1997), a modern adaptation of Hamlet (2000), Sidney Lumet’s crime drama Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead (2007), and the horror film Sinister (2012). He received critical acclaim in 2018 for his performance.

Well-known superheroes such as Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Wolverine, and Captain Marvel, as well as iconic superhero teams such as the Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Guardians of the Galaxy, are among Marvel’s characters. Doctor Doom, Magneto, Ultron, Thanos, Green Goblin, and Kingpin are among the company’s well-known supervillains. The Marvel Universe is a single world in which most of Marvel’s fictional characters operate, with most locations replicating real-life locations; many significant characters are situated in New York City.  Marvel has also released a number of licenced works from other publishers. This includes Star Wars comics from 1977 to 1986, as well as Star Wars comics from 2015.

The BBC owns and operates BBC Radio 1, a British national radio station. Throughout the day, it plays modern popular music and current chart songs. At night, Radio 1 broadcasts alternative genres such as electronica, dance, hip hop, and indie, while 1Xtra plays Black contemporary music such as hip hop and R&B.

Radio 1 broadcasts on FM between 97.1 and 99.7 MHz, digital radio, digital television, and BBC Sounds throughout the United Kingdom. It began in 1967, when the average age of the UK population was 27, to meet the demand for music generated by pirate radio stations. The BBC claims to target the 15–29 age group, and the average age of its UK viewership since 2009 has been 25 years old.
